The entry field looks really tough. How tough is it going to be?
Whilst we do have some of the best fencers in the country attending, there is also a wide range of others. From those attending their first open to those who attend any and every tournament they can. Young up and coming fencers with youth and speed on their side, to veterans with experience and a little trick or two.
As the first event for most after a summer break, some may be slightly “off their game” and we have a few people returning to competitive fencing that are unranked to stir things up a bit. Therefore, expect a few upset on the way.
Where is it being held?
The tournament is being held at the Nuffield Sports and Health Centre which is within the grounds of the Royal Masonic School for Girls, Rickmansworth Park, Rickmansworth, Herts, WD3 4HF
This is easy to access for Junction 18 of the M25 and is about 5 minutes from there. Also a short walk from Rickmansworth Station (Metropolitan Line and Chiltern Railways).
See our venue page for further information.
What are the check-in times?
Check-in closes at:-
Men’s Foil 10:00
Ladies Foil 10:30
The sports centre will be open from 9:00.
These are closing times you must arrive and check-in before then. We are very strict on these times as it is unfair for other fencers to wait. We aim to start fencing 15 minutes after check-in closes.
It takes a few minutes to walk from the car park to the sports hall so if you arrive in the car park with 5 minutes to spare, we suggest you leave you kit and run to check-in, then return to your car to collect your kit (it’s a great warm up).
Is there going to be catering?
Absolutely. Our parents take great pride in our catering and offer a range of breakfast items, paninis, snacks, drinks and home made cakes.
New for this event we will be supplying Costa coffee as well as a range of other hot drinks.
Will there be a trade stand?
Unfortunately, we will not have a fencing trade stand available at this event. However, we may have stock of a few essential items available from DT.
There will be a stand from one of our sponsors, Kymira, who supply a great range of compression wear. See their website for further details. https://www.kymirasport.com/
