Welfare

Wellbeing is attained by little and little, and nevertheless is no little thing itself.

Fencers Club London believes that fencing is a great life-enhancer for anyone involved in the sport. Our motto is ‘Raising the Game’ and we believe that every fencer who trains with us should be allowed to reach their highest potential and be the best version of themselves.

However, achievement should not be to the sacrifice of happiness, joy, fulfilment and delight in moving, fencing, being active and developing great friendships in the sport within and without of the club. We value each and every one of our fencers for who they are and not for what they can do.

Fencers should always remember that fencing is fun. Fencing keeps you fit, allows you to make friends, learn about winning, losing and respect, develop self-confidence and discipline and much, much more. It is also about you being treated in the way that you would like. No one wants to be shouted at, bullied, pushed too hard, being made to feel sad or uncomfortable. We want fencing to be a sport in which you are happy and fulfilled.

At Fencers Club London our Welfare Officer Siân is the person who you can talk to if you are concerned about anything, and she should be your first point of contact. You can email her on welfare@fencersclublondon.com. If you’re unable to talk to her, then contact British Fencing’s Lead Safeguarding Officer on safeguarding@britishfencing.com or 07717740125, or the Safeguarding Helpline on 07526003030.
